Medico Legal Context and
Practice for Occupational Therapists
This workshop is designed for
experienced Occupational Therapists who are interested in advancing their
skillset in assessment processes, medico legal report writing, and giving
evidence in court. A lawyer will provide relevant background information
about the Canadian legal system, and the expectations of an expert and fact
witness. Occupational therapists will be encouraged to network and share
their practice experiences throughout the day.

the expert witness code of conduct and implications for assessments and
reports

working with law firms and insurance companies - the process of engagement
and instruction of the expert; treatment of information provided by
various parties

the process of a medico legal assessment
- Explain
the process for preparing reports and the minimum requirement content of
these reports
- Explain
the process for presenting in court
