At the MS Society of Canada, our mission is to be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS) and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. In support of our mission, a wide range of Client Services are offered to help people living with the daily challenges that MS presents. Supports and programs offered include:
Through MS Clinics, resources, educational workshops and public forums, the Society provides credible and reliable information about MS to help people make informed decisions. Referral services are also available to help connect people with MS and their caregivers to vital community support resources.
MS can be quite challenging at times, but no one has to face these challenges on their own. Information and support are offered in a compassionate and caring environment for people managing the disease, and also to their families and friends. Self-help groups offer a more informal way of sharing emotional support and practical ideas for living well with this chronic and sometimes disabling disease.
Client Services provides social, recreational and fitness programs to help people improve their physical and overall well-being. Research indicates that exercise helps improve overall quality of life. Program activities and adapted or modified exercise classes encourage people with MS to try new things and regain self-confidence.
The Society also offers limited financial services and individual advocacy programs. The Equipment Provision Program assists with paying for equipment or repairs for those with limited income. The Volunteer Legal Advocacy Program helps to address legal challenges by providing general information and advocacy support.
The MS Society provides information and publications about MS diagnosis, symptoms, treatment, research, programs and other topics such as employment, insurance and family issues. The MS Resource Manual, available on our website, is an information guide to resources and benefits available to people with MS. The MS Society is dedicated to providing programs, services and information for individuals and families affected by MS, health care professionals, caregivers, volunteers and the general public.
