resOurce for your pracTice: Tetra Workshop
Located in the basement of the ICORD interdisciplinary research centre in Vancouver (818 West 10th Ave), the Tetra Workshop has been in operation since June 2010. CAOT-BC was recently invited for a tour of the facility.
The workshop operates on a drop-in basis and offers opportunities for people with disabilities to engage in woodworking projects under the supervision of a Tetra volunteer.
From bookshelves, to stools, to coffee tables, if a person can think it, it can probably be made. Referrals can be made by any rehabilitation member by calling the workshop coordinator, George Shipley- 604-790-6125.
Each session costs $10, and all materials are provided. Sessions are run in 4-week blocks, but clients can continue as long as they like.
The workshop is open every Thursday from 10am to 3pm and there are 2, 2-hour sessions (10am-noon and 1pm-3pm).
To find out more about this program or to refer a client, contact George Shipley either by email (George_Shipley@telus.net) or by phone (604-596-9404).
