The Making it Work research team seeks occupational therapists to
conduct ergonomic consultations with study participants in four regions of BC:
Victoria area, Kelowna to Kamloops region. Ideally, occupational therapists
will have experience in arthritis care and ergonomics. This is a great
opportunity for semi-retired, part-time, or casual OTs to pick up additional,
flexible hours of employment; and may also be integrated into the schedules of
private practitioners or others with scheduling flexibility.
The Making it Work study is a 5 module group online program that
includes an individualized/in-person ergonomic interview and recommendations by
an OT. The research coordinator will provide a list of eligible study
participants. The OT will book a mutually convenient time and location to
conduct a 60-90 minute interview with each client, plus a phone call follow
up. OTs will be provided with an orientation to the study protocol and
the standard ergonomics assessment. The Ergonomic Assessment Tool for Arthritis
includes a client self-assessment, an interview, and summarized
solutions/recommendations. It may be viewed online at http://www.arthritisresearch.ca/arc-links/research-tools/research-tools-eata or http://ergotool.arthritisresearch.ca/
The number of study participants in each location will vary, and may be
few in number. The study aims to recruit approximately 130 participants over 2
years who will require the ergonomic consultation. A flat rate will be paid per
assessment. If interested, please submit an expression of interest and a
resume.
