Career Opportunity- Service Coordinator, British Columbia

The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists is currently recruiting for the position of Service Coordinator (SC).
Required Qualifications:
  • Entry level degree in occupational therapy;
  • Currently registered in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia;
  • Membership in good standing with CAOT;
  • Demonstrated interest in advocacy and professional representation;
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional issues facing occupational therapists in BC;
  • Demonstrated skills in organization and time management;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Excellent collaboration skills;
  • Willingness to work from home;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Willingness to gradually increase hours to 3-5 days per week in next 12-36 months.
Recommended Qualifications:
  • Experience with volunteer intensive service operations;
  • Experience with MS Office Standard (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Membership in good standing with the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
Description of Duties and Authority:Reporting to the Managing Director, the Service Coordinator (SC) supports the Managing Director in the day-to-day operations of CAOT-BC. The SC supports the Managing Director to provide coordination, planning and implementation of CAOT-BC services that focus on association strategic objectives:
  1. Advancement of Professional Practice in British Columbia (BC);
  2. Representation and Advocacy;
  3. Promotion of CAOT-BC;
  4. Support and improve existing member services.
Major Areas of Responsibility:1. Special Interest Group (SIG) coordination and support- Development and management of the Special Interest Groups (support to organize meetings, advertising for the blog and OTalk, set up of online registration, archiving meeting materials, work in collaboration with SIG volunteers , improvement of SIG activity);
2. Committee, task group and practice network coordination support- Attendance at committee and practice network meetings (e.g. Advisory Committee, Awards Committee, BC Workforce Collaborative, Private Practice Network, Dysphagia Network, archiving meeting materials, work in collaboration with CAOT-BC volunteers);
3. Contribute to CAOT-BC publications (OTalk, CAOT-BC Blog, Twitter);
4. Coordinate promotional/representation/advocacy event attendance;
5. Manage small projects, as assigned/requested by the Managing Director;
6. Collaborate with CAOT national office staff as required;
7. Report to Managing Director.
All other duties as assigned.
