Topic: Developing Influence as a
Tool for Leadership - Presented by Salim Janmohamed
There are many books and courses about leadership and
many leadership principles are well understood or even self-evident. As
authorities in our respective institutions, occupational therapist leaders are
skilled at leading and influencing our direct reports and peers. But does the
power of our influence extend beyond our workplaces to the stakeholders that
make decisions which impact us? Can we improve our ability to positively
influence these stakeholders to support organizational goals? In this session,
evidence based and time tested principles of influence building are examined in
the context of challenges faced by OT leaders.
Salim Janmohamed is an
occupational therapist and the Managing Director of Community Therapists, an
interdisciplinary rehabilitation practice. He holds a graduate degree in
Business from Sauder (UBC) and is the lead clinical instructor of Vocational
Rehabilitation for the Master of OT program at UBC.
