Description: This meeting will be an
introduction to the World Health Organization's Global Cooperation on Assistive
Technology (GATE) initiative. GATE was formed in response to Article 32 of the
UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which calls for
international cooperation to facilitate access to assistive technologies for
all individuals who require them. The GATE initiative has embarked on several
projects across the areas of People, Provision, Policy, Personnel, and
Products. Emma Smith, currently a Friedman Scholar at Maynooth University in
Ireland working on the GATE project, will introduce the initiative and it's
current and planned work, and discuss opportunities for involvement of those
who may be interested.
This meeting will take place by webinar. Registration is required to participate.
