CAOT-BC Award Nominations- 1 Week Left to Deadline



Only one week left to submit Nominations for two (2) award categories for CAOT-BC. We invite members to nominate colleagues for the awards described. The deadline for all nominations is February 1, 2013. The nomination form can be found at www.caot.ca


CAOT-BC Outstanding Occupational Therapist of the Year Award
The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – British Columbia will recognize members living in British Columbia who have made an outstanding contribution to the profession throughout his or her career. Only one (1) award will be granted each year.Nominations for this Award will be considered annually but the Award will be made only when recognition is merited in accordance with stated criteria. Nominators whose nomination is unsuccessful in a particular year may allow the nomination to stand for a maximum of three successive years.

Nominations must meet the following criteria:

a. Nominees shall be individual or life members of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists currently living in British Columbia.
b. Nominees shall have worked as an occupational therapist for a minimum of five years.
c. Nominees shall be making, or have made contributions that influence the profession, directly or indirectly, in at least one of the following areas:

· Demonstrating dedication to education and guiding, supporting and encouraging the development of occupational therapy students;

· Demonstrating expertise or innovation in one or more practice areas in roles in academic or practice education, consultation, administration or research;

· Developing an innovative occupational therapy practice or working extensively with community/client groups;

· Making a sustained commitment to the profession by acting as a leader and a role model.

Citation Award
The Citation Award provides an opportunity for collaboration with provincial/territorial professional occupational therapy organizations. A maximum of two (2) Citation Awards per province/territory may be awarded annually. The purpose of the Citation Award is to acknowledge the contribution/accomplishment to the health and well-being of Canadians an agency, program and/or individual within each province/territory, who is not an occupational therapist.

Nominations must meet the following criteria:

  1. Nominees shall not be an occupational therapist or an agency/organization
  2. Nominees will have made, or be making, a significant contribution to rehabilitation, community health, self-help groups, provincial, territorial or municipal government initiatives in health care or other related programs.
  3. Nominees will have demonstrated support of occupational therapy philosophy or endeavour.
  4. The nomination must be endorsed by the provincial/territorial organization prior to submission to the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
