Focus on Research – Building Community Capacity Across the Rockies
ACT's 9th Annual Focus on Research event, in celebration of
April Autism Awareness Month, is an opportunity for researchers from B.C. and
Alberta to share the practical implications of their work with educators and
community-based clinicians working with individuals with ASD and their families

Social Thinking through Stories and Play for Pre-school and Early Elementary
School
What looks like pure fun to us has important social
consequences for the developing mind. The ability to participate in
collaborative pretend play depends upon having a flexible brain, competent
language ability, self regulation, and solid social-emotional development as
well the executive function skills to multi-task the use of all of the above!

Saturday, June 1st, 2013- Nanaimo Ready,
Set, Coach : Supporting Kids with Autism in Community Recreation Activities
This one day event is for recreation instructors
and coaches who want to understand how to teach kids with autism in swimming
lessons, skating programs, soccer programs, fitness instruction, and other
community recreation activities. It will also be useful for parents who want to
understand more about how to help their kids participate in community sports,
and for PE teachers who want to know more about autism. Presented by
