BC Ombudsperson News Release

Kim S. Carter, Ombudsperson, has released a report "No Longer Your Decision: British Columbia's Process for Appointing the Public Guardian and Trustee to Manage the Financial Affairs of Incapable Adults"

The report looked at what needs to be done to ensure that the current process is changed to acknowledge the inherent autonomy of an adult and respect their rights.

The Ombudsperson made 21 findings and 28 recommendations to:

• Health Authorities
• Public Guardian and Trustee
• Ministry of Health
• Minister of Justice
