Did you know that the enrollment for the UBC Master of Occupational Therapy Program will be 53 students for September 2013?
That means that the program will require 265 placements next year!
Contribute to the education of our future colleagues by supporting the UBC MOT program and offer a placement for the 2014 year. CAOT-BC will doing its part and offering a placement too--after all, we did not get where we are today as occupational therapists without the generous support of fieldwork supervisors when we were students.
For more information about how you can become involved in fieldwork, contact Donna Drynan, Academic Fieldwork Supervisor, UBC MOT Program.
As a current UBC MOT student, I must say that our field supervisors are a huge inspiration to us! And please know that this opportunity to build a relationship with a clinician and learn from him or her is not taken for granted. Thank you to all the wonderful OT's who contribute to our learning. And thank you also to the teams who welcome us to be a part of what you are doing. So-far I have had two fantastic placement experiences here in BC (VGH Vancouver and VGH Victoria), as well as great shorter learning experiences at various facilities in the Greater Vancouver area. Not to mention all the learning I've done with clinicians who come in to teach and help out in various ways at the school.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you find we also make valuable contributions while on placement with you, as this is a big part of our goal as OT students and future professionals, and that in a little while we will also be good colleagues who contribute to the growth and strength of the profession.
Thanks for sharing your experience Laura. It is great to hear from the student perspective!
