The Job Accommodation
Network (JAN) is an American based resource that provides free accommodation
ideas and information for persons with disability seeking accommodations at
work or school. JAN's Searchable Online Accommodation Resource (SOAR)system lets users explore accommodations based on limitations (e.g. back
impairment), disabilities (e.g. diabetes) or work-related functions (e.g.
commute).
Although much of the
information is from the American context, many of the recommendations and ideas
are relevant where occupational therapists play an important role in assessing
and making treatment recommendations from a client-centered perspective
enabling participation and engagement at work or school.
