I spoke to Rob Wilson, Acting Director of Claims Services at ICBC on August 15, 2012 at which time he advised that there would be a further delay in communication with the occupational therapists regarding the requested rate increase. He apologized for the delay citing that "internal review" at ICBC was contributing to the set-back in the communication. He also indicated that the analysis and work regarding this issue was complete, and that it was only communication of the information that was delayed.
In follow-up to this conversation, as you may be aware, on August 16, 2012, the BC government reported the results of the review of ICBC (announced last Fall). ICBC has responded to this report and I encourage you to review both documents. The government made 24 recommendations in the areas of governance, staffing and compensation, cost containment, bodily injury costs, procurement, transformation program, information technology and driver licensing.
Mr. Wilson contacted me again to advise that ICBC’s Board of Directors
had accepted all of the recommendations and stated that some of them had already been
implemented while others were underway. He further stated that ICBC was committed to implementing this report without
impacting the service provided to our customers and partners.
I will follow-up with Mr. Wilson in early September regarding communication to the occupational therapists service providers.
