Sustaining a Culture of Giving Through Canada’s Volunteer Awards

Over the past 150, years Canadian communities have flourished with the help of volunteers.

In fact, Canada is known for its generosity. In 2015, we ranked sixth in the World Giving Index which provides insight into the scope and nature of giving around the world.

Many people and organizations have an important role in sustaining the well-being of communities. They share a common goal with many of us: to make a difference.

This is why Canada’s Volunteer Awards are so important.

Canada’s Volunteer Awards recognize the important contributions of individuals, not-for-profit organizations and businesses across the country.

The Awards also create an opportunity for volunteers to continue to give back. Award recipients are asked to choose an eligible not-for-profit organization to receive a grant of up to $10,000. The money will help support positive change and initiatives, and sustain the culture of generosity that Canada is known for. By nominating a volunteer, you can be part of the change in your community.

In honour of the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, The Canada’s Volunteer Awards is proud to acknowledge young volunteers. The Emerging Leader category is expanding from one national to five regional awards in order to recognize the contributions of more young volunteers to their communities.

If you know a volunteer, a youth, a business or a not-for-profit organization that is making a difference in your community, show your appreciation by nominating them for a Canada’s Volunteer Awards today.

For more information and to submit a nomination, please visit Canada.ca/volunteer-awards. The call for nominations closes on February 3, 2017.

Be part of the change in your community. Nominate a volunteer today.
