“OT – OUR TIME IS NOW”
OCTOBER 4 & 5, 2013, OAK ISLAND HOTEL
The OT Atlantic Conference this year in
sponsored by the Nova Scotia Society of Occupational Therapists and will be
held at Oak Island Hotel and Marina on the South Shore from the morning of
Friday, October 4 to Saturday, October 5, 2013.
The Theme is OT – Our Time Is Now and the
NSSOT plans that the conference will contain a balance of different formats and
a balance of abstracts from practitioners, educators, students, clients and
others.
There will be oral presentations (solo or a
panel), posters, and workshops. An oral presentation is an opportunity to
present on your practice, professional issues, or your research. Each oral
presentation will take 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions and one person
can present or a panel of 2, or 3 people can present.
A poster
is an opportunity to present a visual display of new techniques, professional innovations,
programs or research. Posters will be presented concurrently within the
conference program with specific times to meet and talk with the authors. It is
anticipated that student posters will be in a dedicated area.
Workshop
proposals of 90 or 180 minutes will be accepted.
Topics will be applicable to Occupational Therapy practice such as motivational
interviewing, developing a private practice or how to market your occupational
therapy skills.
GUIDELINES
FOR SUBMISSION
1. Abstracts can only be submitted
by email(nssot@bellaliant.com), faxed
or hard copies will NOT be accepted.
2. Deadline for abstract
submission is July 30, 2013. Successful abstracts will be confirmed by August
15, 2013.
3. There are three types of
presentations: oral, poster or workshops. Please indicate your preferred type
of presentation.
4. Abstracts should not exceed 300
words (excluding title) for any category.
5. Acceptance of the abstract does
not imply provision of travel, accommodation or registration for the conference,
nor any other costs associated with attendance at the conference.
6. Submission of an abstract
indicates that the abstract has been approved by all authors.
7. Accepted abstracts will be
presented by the ‘head’ author. The ‘head’ author will notify the scientific
committee if presenting author changes or if the presentation is withdrawn.
8. The abstract should be
informative as possible.
Educational (non-research
) abstracts should include: Introduction, Objectives, Description/Report,
Results/Discussion, Conclusion and Contribution to OT.
Research abstracts should
include: Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and
Contribution to OT.
Workshop abstracts should
include: Learning objectives, Acceptable number of participants, Description of
teaching methods, type of room set up and length of workshop.
REVIEW
CRITERIA
Each abstract will be reviewed by 2
reviewers. The review criteria will address Quality of Content, Educational
Value, Quality of the Written Abstract.
