COVID-19 Resource Sharing

To assist in resource sharing during this uncertain time, CAOT-BC has compiled a folder of COVID-19 resources for occupational therapists. This consists of resources shared with CAOT-BC through forums and member emails and includes:
  • General COVID-19 resources
  • Client education materials and resources
  • Resources for telehealth / teletherapy
  • Resources for paediatric occupational therapists
Please note that CAOT does not endorse any of these resources, tools or products. They are provided solely for the purpose of information sharing, and clinical judgement should always be used in determining the appropriateness of any tools or resources for use in practice.

Thank you to the occupational therapists who shared these resources with CAOT-BC, and we welcome the sharing of additional resources (please send to scharles@caot.ca).

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Dealer Contacts for Occupational Therapists

CAOT-BC and Home Medical Equipment Dealers Association (HMEDA) worked together in an effort to source personal protective equipment (PPE) for occupational therapists that provide urgent services in the community. HMEDA assisted with finding suppliers / manufacturers for face shields, gloves, and masks and connecting these suppliers with local dealers.

This list of dealers identified themselves as being able to provide this equipment to occupational therapists. Please contact them directly to place orders.

Free webinar for Paediatric OTs: Mobile Coaching with Families of Young Children with ASD Using the Early Social Interaction (ESI) Model

The Ministry of Children and Family Development and the Florida State University Autism Institute invite you to a special edition of the Autism Navigator webinar series:

Mobile Coaching with Families of Young Children with ASD
Using the Early Social Interaction (ESI) Model

The Autism Navigator team will share information about how to implement mobile coaching (e.g., telepractice, working remotely, video conferencing) to conduct meaningful coaching sessions with families of toddlers with ASD.

Since face-to-face coaching sessions may not be possible at this time due to Covid-19 restrictions that so many EI providers are facing, mobile coaching can provide families with the support and guidance they need for their young children with ASD to keep services going.

Date:  Wednesday, April 15, 2020
Time:  4:00 to 5:30 pm (Eastern Time) / 1:00 to 2:30 (Pacific Time)

Agenda
  • how to get started planning and setting up a mobile intervention session
  • how families can embed intervention throughout the day and between coaching sessions
  • strategies to coach caregivers across everyday activities and routines
