The University of
British Columbia’s Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy graduating class of 2014 is proud to present the 9th
annual Capstone student led Conference: Enhancing Collaborative
Communities.

The Capstone Conference
showcases the Master of Occupational Therapy students’ research projects, which
which aim to provide a better understanding of how to improve future service
delivery, enhance function in daily life, and gain insight into the lived
experiences of individuals with disabilities.
We
are proud to have Canadian author, Paulette Bourgeois to deliver the keynote
address. Although she currently works as a creative writer, she originally
trained and practiced in occupational therapy. She is most known for her works
on the adventures of “Franklin the Turtle” which have touched the lives of
millions of children worldwide.
One of her more recent works titled “You, Me
and my O.T.” was written for the Canadian Association of Occupational
Therapists to explain and promote the many areas of expertise within the realm
of occupational therapy.
In addition, this year’s faculty address will
be delivered by Michael Lee, a Senior Instructor and Curriculum Coordinator for
the Master of Occupational Therapy Program at UBC. Michael has practiced as an
occupational therapist within Mental Health Rehabilitation for over 25 years.
His interest in mental health issues has led his career to currently focus on
mental health promotion and introducing psychosocial rehabilitation to
countries where it is not fully embraced.
