The BC Lung Association is offering a free workshop to health professionals with
the goal of encouraging confidence, commitment and capacity for delivering tobacco cessation interventions.
Through education, role playing and scenario discussions,
participants will be able to:
•
Articulate the important role health
professionals have in treating
tobacco dependence
•
Use the 5A’s: Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, and Arrange
to provide brief tobacco cessation interventions
•
Assess a
client’s readiness, willingness and ability to quit using tobacco
•
Identify barriers and propose solutions using motivational interview techniques
•
Offer tobacco cessation pharmacotherapy support
•
Confidently speak
about the BC Smoking Cessation Program
•
Describe QuitNow support services including
phone, web, text and social media
•
Refer clients to QuitNow for tobacco
cessation support
