CAOT-BC @ HSA Convention 2016 |
CAOT-BC represented occupational therapists at the annual convention of the Health Sciences Association (HSA) on May 6, 2016. Delegates are brought together annually to vote on resolutions submitted by union stewards.
HSA
represents a range of health science professionals including: occupational
therapists, social workers, physiotherapists, medical laboratory technologists,
medical imaging technologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, speech
language pathologists, cardiology technologists and psychologists.
HSA
represents over 17,000 professionals who work in various health care settings,
including acute care, community health, child development centers and
transition
houses.
Many
issues were raised by members of this convention, but of note were the
following:
- Member dues will be increased by .025% for the first time in 19 years
- HSA reports that the British Columbia Nurses Union (BCNU) has extended their raids to include occupational therapists and other health professionals
CAOT-BC
will continue to represent the interests of occupational therapists at the
annual HSA Convention in 2017. If you have any comments, questions or
suggestions, please leave a comment below or send us an email.
