CAOT-BC Assistive Technology & Seating Practice Network Meeting: May 18, 2017

Topic: Wheelchair Tie Downs and Occupant Restraints 101 | What you need to know to keep your clients safe

Do you regularly prescribe wheelchairs for your clients which might be tied down in a van or used on public transportation? Did you know that some wheelchair frames are not crash-tested to be tied down with a user sitting in them? Or that a wheelchair safety belt is not a sufficient occupant restraint when tying down a wheelchair?

Even if you aren't specifically dealing with adapted vehicles, it's important to understand and be aware of the potential and limitations of these systems so you can adequately advise your clients. Join us for a presentation and question and answer session to learn more about wheelchair tie downs, occupant restraints, and WC-19 compliance for manual and powered wheelchairs. The session will be presented by representatives from McKesson Canada and Q-Straint who will be available to answer all your questions about safety, liability, and what you need to know to provide the best care possible for your clients.

This meeting will take place by webinar. Registration is required to participate.
