Topic: What is Knowledge translation (KT) & how
can OT leaders facilitate it in the OT profession in BC? Presented by Alison
Hoens
This session will provide an overview of what KT is, and
isn’t, why it is important, and how OT leaders can support their clinicians and
researchers in KT practices to facilitate adoption of effective
evidence-informed care.
Alison Hoens holds two positions: (1) the PHC
Physiotherapy Research, Education & Practice Coordinator ( PT REP- C) at
Providence Health Care and (2) the Physical Therapy Knowledge Broker (PT KB).
In the REP-C role she supports 130 PTs and 40-50 Rehab Assistants across PHC to
participate in research, access continuing education and support clinical
decision making for complex patients. The PT KB role is jointly funded by
UBC Faculty of Medicine (Dept of Physical Therapy), the Physiotherapy
Association of BC and the Research Institutes of PHC anc VCH. This role
