ICBC Update: What you need to know for April 1

With April 1 fast approaching, when the ICBC changes take effect, here are some key things to know:

ICBC is launching the Health Care Inquiry Unit
To support you beginning April 1, ICBC is creating a Health Care Inquiry Unit, which will be a group that you can call if you have questions relating to treating ICBC customers, policies, or processes. The contact number will be provided on April 1 on the Business Partners page.

Support and resources
ICBC has posted a Support and resources page, which includes demonstration videos and jobs aids on the new Health Care Provider Invoicing and Reporting (HCPIR) application in addition to an HCPIR readiness checklist. The HCPIR application will be available for invoicing and reporting as of April 1. For more information, visit the Invoicing and reporting page.

Webinar recordings and request for feedback
In preparation for the upcoming changes, over the last couple of weeks, ICBC held webinars for each of the health care provider groups. For those who were not able to attend, a recording of the webinar has been posted on your health care provider page on ICBC’s Business Partners site. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find this recording.

For those that attended or have listened to the recording, ICBC welcomes your feedback. Please take a few minutes to complete the ICBC webinar feedback survey here.

There was great attendance and engagement on the calls, resulting in a large volume of questions across all health care provider groups. To support you, ICBC is working through the questions to create a summary Q&A. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the pages on ICBC’s Business Partners site, as you can find many of the answers to your questions posted there. If you can’t find the answer, you can submit your question through ICBC’s online feedback form.

Vendor number FAQ
To address frequently asked questions about the vendor number process, ICBC has developed a vendor number FAQ document. Please review this before you apply for or make updates to your vendor number, as it may address your questions. You can find this document on the Invoicing and reporting page of ICBC’s Business Partners site.

Treatment fees and third party health benefits providers
On April 1, ICBC will be the primary payer for treatments listed under schedule 3.1 of the regulations ICBC.  Fees in excess of the regulated rate (user fees) may be payable by third party health benefits providers.  User fees will not be recoverable from ICBC for claims with a date of loss April 1, 2019 or after.

Report templates
The Reports page is now available on ICBC’s Business Partners site. Report submissions through this method will not be accepted until April 1. Therefore this page currently contains the samples of the new report templates for you to preview. Please check back after April 1 to find the actual fillable report templates available for submission.
