Current research informs us that mental health conditions are very common - in particular trauma with unexpected illness or injury. People are complex, heavily influenced by interconnecting individual systems (e.g. emotional, cognitive, sensory-perceptual) and the current environment. Subsequently it is challenging for us to assess and integrate all the information in a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) and to facilitate a successful return to work (RTW). Return to work is therapeutic and I consider a Functional Capacity Evaluation brief therapy. This workshop focuses on the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions to facilitate a comprehensive FCE and sustainable return to work using the whole person MAC integrated model.
Overview:
- Hierarchy of objective assessment tools for mental health conditions – psychological, social behavioral, cognitive. Includes trauma/PTSD, learning disabilities (ADHD), worry-fear-anxiety, depression, addictions.
