Update from RoadSafetyBC

In response to the second wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic, RoadSafetyBC would like to advise that age-based Driver’s Medical Examination Reports (DMER) have been paused, effective December 16th. This means that drivers who are age 80 and above will not receive a DMER in the mail for completion by their physician or nurse practitioner. RoadSafetyBC will assess the state of the COVID-19 pandemic and monitor pressures on the medical community to determine when it is appropriate to reactivate age based medicals.

To ensure road safety, the following DMERs must still be completed:

  • Age-based DMERs issued before December 16, 2020

  • DMERs related to high-risk drivers in BC, regardless of age

  • DMERs for commercial drivers

Updated information is available for members of the public and medical professionals on the RoadSafetyBC website, which has been updated recently. The new website address for RoadSafetyBC is: www.roadsafetybc.ca.

As the website address and some of the links to documents and within documents have changed, older versions that members and the medical community may have saved or were using will no longer work. As a result, members will need to clear their cache and update any saved favourites to new links that can be found within www.roadsafetybc.ca.
