Pediatric Special Interest Group Meeting
Topic:
Speaker: Keith Landherr, M.A.,
O.T., a certified DIR/Floortime ® Trainer
Mr. Landherr will present
a case example of a child with multiple challenges using a DIR/Floortime lens.
DIR/Floortime is a treatment model created by Stanley Greenspan, M.D. and
Serena Wieder, Ph.D. that evaluates children by looking at their Developmental
Level, Individual Differences, and Relationships. This case study will look at
an individual child and introduce the basic principles of DIR/Floortime.
Objectives:
· Identify the key features
in this relationship-based approach that have been incorporated to help this
child.
· Explore the 6 Functional
Emotional Developmental Capacities (FEDCs) in the DIR® model and potential
challenges that this child faces at each capacity
· Understand an OT’s role
in accessing and supporting the "I" in DIR - individual differences
and how health, sensory processing, and regulatory challenges can impact a
child's development
· Discuss key principles
and basic strategies of Floortime ™
· Understand the essential
role of affect as it is related to the D, the I, and the R
Mr Landherr has volunteered to
speak to the PSIG about DIR/Floortime in preparation for the course he is
leading this August 28th and 29th at the Jericho Hills Centre 4196 w.
4th Ave Vancouver.The August course will result in certification of the
participants and enable as able to take DIR 201 which results in Basic
Certification in DIR/Floortime (R).
