Description: No matter what practice area you work in, what setting, as an occupational therapist you were likely taught that occupation is at the core of occupational therapy- but is it? And does it matter? Join us as we delve into what ‘occupation-centred’ practice means, how we use occupation in practice (or not), and the implications for us, clients and the profession as a whole. We will use the following articles to inform our discussion: Aiken, F.E., Fourt, A.M., Cheng, I.K.S., & Polatajko, H.J. (2011). The meaning gap in occupational therapy: Finding meaning in our own occupation. Canadian Journal of Occupational Therapy, 294-302. Fisher, A.G. (2013); Occupation-centred, occupation-based, occupation-focused: Same, same or different? Scandinavian Journal of Occupational Therapy, 162-173.
